AI and Scientific Writing Ethics

In alignment with modern scientific standards, JCBES follows the ethical guidelines set by Scopus, Elsevier, and COPE regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). To maintain research integrity, the ethical rules governing AI utilization in this Journal are based on the following specific points:

  • No AI Authorship: AI tools and LLMs cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, as they cannot hold legal accountability or manage conflicts of interest.
  • Absolute Human Accountability: Authors bear 100% responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and validity of all content, data, and citations in the manuscript.
  • Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must explicitly declare the use of generative AI tools in a dedicated section prior to the references, specifying the tool used and the extent of its use.
  • Permissible Assistance: AI use is strictly limited to language editing, improving readability, grammar checks, and translation support.
  • Prohibited Content Generation: AI must not be used to generate core scientific insights, formulate hypotheses, analyze research data, or fabricate citations.
  • Peer Review Confidentiality: Reviewers and editors are strictly forbidden from uploading, submitted manuscripts into AI tools to protect intellectual property and data privacy.
